Being out on the waves is a unique experience.  Suddenly, you are away from … everything.  There’s no technology, no clutter, no traffic, and no schedules.  There’s only the quiet sounds of waves passing.  Just you and the horizon in solitude.

Being at the Manhattan Beach Pier before dawn reminds me of playing in beach volleyball tournaments.  Wow, that was more than 10 years ago, now.  I hope I can play there regularly again someday.

On our recent trip to Los Angeles, I messed up my time zone change and ended up at the Manhattan Beach Pier before sunrise.  Ugh!  Well, here’s one for the file of “making lemonade from life’s lemons”…
