Lake Mead is a huge reservoir a few miles East of Las Vegas.  The reservoir is created by the Hoover Dam holding back the Colorado River.  There was a drought when we were there making the lake level low.

At a little pier, you can rent boats for everything from fishing to swimming.  You can even rent big house boats for a weekend on the lake.
